MOUNTAIN WEEKEND 1999 TRYOUTS ALMOST
CANCELLED!!!Coach Brad was so busy coaching everyone at BAA that he
forgot to show up at the 1999 Mountain Weekend Tryouts. Thinking quickly, he borrowed a
cell phone from a BAA runner and directed the tryouts remotely by contacting an important
doctor at the tryouts who just happenned to have his mobile phone with him. As expected, Hodge and Wallace finished 1-2 again. A disappointed runner up, Dr.
Walter Murphy, will have to wait another year to try out. |

| WALLY WINS COMEBACK HIKER OF THE YEAR AWARD!!!
Rockaway, N.J. (AP) Gary "The Former Gargantuan Runner" Wallace appeared to have conquered his battle with fat at MW '98. Pushing himself to the limits of non-Hodgien humans, he made it to the top of a mountain without the aid of stimulants and/or performance enhancing drugs. Even Hodgie remarked "not bad for a human". Congratulations Gary, but remember, 1999 is another year. |
| MOUNTAIN WEEKEND NATURE SURPRISE!! Upon reaching the top of Mt. .... during MW '98, Gary, Brad & Hodgie were surprised and treated to the antics of a seemingly new species of bird. Each took turns feeding the bird out of their hands; Brad mocked Gary who thought the bird resembled a blue jay. As it turned out, the bird was a Canada Jay aka Gray Jay aka Perisoreus canadensis. Webmaster note: This sucker is a rare observation in New Hampshire according to Certain experts! |
The location of this year's hike is still a well kept secret, not yet revealed by Brad before press time.
A Special Supplement is included as a bonus with this year's MW Issue:
A History of Mountain Weekend.
