Bill Rodgers 1973 Races
Bill's first competitive race since an indoor 2 mile at Wesleyan 3 years earlier happens on Feb. 18th as he steps to the line at a 20 miler where he sees his old friend and college roommate, Amby Burfoot (winner of Boston '68).  Not thinking Bill was in racing shape, Amby was quite surprised to see Bill with him at 10 miles in around 50 minutes. Bill went on to run 1:44:37 and finish 3rd.  Not a bad start.
