("Little warm-up and no warm-down. A five lap race, ran the 1st 3 laps at
easy pace and the last 2 at hard pace. Breathing was excellent; had aches in my
legs and an aching back for the last 8 or 9 miles - shock of road?poor (too
thin) shoes? In the 40º 's, no wind almost, and maybe 2 fair hills not too
steep.")
Nov. 22 - 4.6 miles - 23:16 - 5th - Manchester, CT road
race
("A beautiful day for a race, but I ran poorly; a 5th place behind (1) Amby
Burfoot, (2) Vitale, (3) Crothers & (4) Flanagan... Felt bad 90% of
the way - never felt smooth or strong and got a sideache 1 mile into the race -
was not rested for this race and have a head cold - lungs hurt during and after
the race. Left foot sole is sorer after the race though the rt ankle is
OK.")
